Naomi Nelson

I am a senior majoring in Geography minoring in Food Studies, and expected to graduate December 2018. I like to study the intersection of Urban Geography and Food Access and plan to pursue a Master’s degree in Urban Planning after graduation. I was recommended to apply for the SCG internship by Dr. Read because I have previous experience interning at a Non-Profit Community Development Agency. Their primary focus is to help the community by providing access to affordable housing and financial coaching. I will be doing similar work with SCG, assisting with projects like the Financial Empowerment Center, Smart Cities grant and the Eviction Study. I’m hoping this practicum will help me gain necessary hands on Geographic experience helping the community during my final semester in Syracuse!
