Student Profile
Lucas Barros-Correia
I learned about the SCG undergraduate internship program when Jonnell came to speak in my Urban Geography class about internship opportunities. I was inspired to apply because I saw the potential to contribute to projects that are related to my studies and that would help community-based organizations accomplish their goals. So far, I’ve researched topics such as the application of GIS in disaster response management and the impacts of mobile farmers’ markets on food insecurity. Researching, thinking critically, compiling data, recording and communicating findings are things I do daily. Having multiple tasks or projects to work on at the same time keeps me stimulated throughout the day, and when I leave the office I feel like I’ve accomplished a lot.
