Erica Burns

Hello! My name is Erica Burns, and I am a senior at Syracuse University double majoring in Economics and Environment, Sustainability, and Policy. I have a strong interest in food studies, particularly food injustice and food apartheid, as well as community outreach. I am originally from Connecticut and spend much of my time throughout New England.

Through my work in Community Geography, my team and I assisted the City of Syracuse in developing an updated sustainability plan. I researched and analyzed policy briefs, compared sustainability initiatives across different cities, and identified best practices to strengthen our recommendations. I also helped research, organize, and map key community resources as part of a comprehensive story map. Additionally, I contributed to writing and editing the final story maps, ensuring they are clear, accessible, and legible for community members.
