The tree equity score is an index created by American Forests that combines environmental, economic, demographic, and health variables to measure how well the benefits of urban trees are reaching communities most in need. The index can be used to help guide local governments and urban forestry organizations to focus their planting efforts in an equitable manner. This map uses data downloaded from the American Forests Tree Equity National Explorer and displays the tree equity scores of Syracuse’s census tracts. Additionally, this maps displays data of Onondaga Earth Corps’ tree planting sites from 2005 – 2022, aggregated at the neighborhood level.
