The temperature data were downloaded from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) National Weather Forecast Office website: http://www.erh.noaa.gov/bgm/climate/syr/syr_annual_totals.shtml. The dataset includes the average yearly temperature for Syracuse, New York, spanning from 1951 until 2012. The temperature data are of sound quality, and were collected from a professional institution with a long history of documenting the climate. One limitation of this dataset is that it only provides the average temperature by year; the data do not show temperature variability throughout the year. Additionally, the temperature data only present data for the entire City of Syracuse and, therefore, demonstrate the general temperature trends for the entire city over the last sixty years.
