Student Profile

Cassandra Schmitt

I am a junior undergraduate majoring in political science and citizenship and civic engagement, with a minor in applied statistics. In January of 2016 I was offered to come aboard as an intern with the City of Syracuse Innovation Team. The team was made up of five members including Assistant Professor and Director of SCG Jonnell Robinson. Professor Robinson was able to engage me in the possibilities Syracuse Community Geography can offer students in pursuit of out of classroom education. To date my research interests have culminated in projects on political ideology and philanthropic action, birthplace and labor outcomes, and longitudinal analysis of gun control rhetoric. After Graduation in 2018, I plan to pursue field experience in government applications of social science research before returning to school for a Master’s in Survey Methodology.
