Census Bureau Introduces New Interactive Mapping Tool along with Latest American Community Survey StatisticsPosted: December 18, 2013
Today, the Census Bureau launched an online tool which allows users to map social, economic, and housing characteristics at the state, county and census tract level for each US state. It features data from the 1990 and 2000 Censuses and the 2008-2012 American Community Survey. See what you can map in this press release, or check out the tool for yourself here.
Note: Updated 5-year ACS estimates (2008-2012) were also released today.

We’ve done several projects (Locating Quality and Affordable Housing, Housing Demolition, Vacancy and Tenure Patterns in Syracuse, NY) to map vacant properties in Syracuse for organizations combating neighborhood blight through renewal. Wheeling, WV has enacted a policy to penalize absentee landlords and rid neighborhoods of vacant properties by starting a Vacant Property Registration Program, which charges fees for properties that are not maintained.
