In light of food security becoming a hot button issue in the Canadian election, Evan Fraser, Canada Research Chair in Global Food Security in the geography department at Guelph University and Pierre Desroches, geography professor at the University of Toronto Mississauga and author of “The Locavore’s Dilemma” debate whether food security is about “eating locally” or “globally.”

According to a study released by the USDA, more then 40% of the U.S. public school districts are participating in the national Farm to School program, which has schools buy produce from local farms for school meals and educates students about healthy foods.
